New browser wallet for Ripple

The Ripple crew has launched a counterpart to the MetaMask wallet, specifically designed for XRP, known as Crossmark.

The fintech firm Ripple has developed the Crossmark browser wallet for the ecosystem of the XRP Ledger network, with its functionality mirroring that of MetaMask.

The add-on will be accessible for browsers like Chrome, Opera, and Firefox and, as per the creator's assertion, will closely resemble the functionality of ConsenSys's MetaMask software.

The Crossmark wallet allows for connectivity with the XUMM mobile XRP wallet. Future plans may see the integration of other solutions like the Gem Wallet and Ledger.

Despite this, the developer has indicated that the mechanisms required for the interchange between distinct wallets on the XRP Ledger have not yet been brought to life.

A preliminary version of Crossmark is currently under trial by a select group of users, but it is still lacking some of the planned functionalities.

In the upcoming months, the team is anticipating a public roll-out of this revamped wallet.

It's worth noting that Ripple previously launched a platform for issuing Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and stablecoins, utilizing the XRP Ledger back in May.
